Brian Sloan - CMA, MBA
Senior Consultant
Brian Sloan is a Lean Accounting and Administration consultant for Value Stream Solutions Inc. Prior to his current role as a consultant, Brian was Controller for two manufacturing plants in Southwestern Ontario for seven years. Introduced to the initial concepts of Lean through the traditional channel of the shop floor, Brian has made it his passion to bring the concepts of Lean to the accounting and administrative functions of an organization. He combines his senior management experience, education and financial skills to provide client value around business strategy and continuous improvement.
Brian initiated a number of Lean improvements at his former place of employment. Some of these included 5S projects in the accounting office and shop floor, streamlining month end/year end close routines, establishing a mind-set of “continuous improvement” in the non-production areas of the organization, value stream mapping product families in a job shop, developing a “visual workplace” on the shop floor, and introducing continuous improvement in a union environment.
Brian received his CMA designation in 1992, his MBA from the Richard Ivey School of Business in 2006, and most recently a certificate in Lean Business Processes from the University of Michigan in 2007.
